About this lesson
A closer look
In 2015, a study led by former NASA scientist James Hansen argued that Greenland and Antarctica could melt fast enough to raise sea levels by several meters this century. Climate scientist Kevin Trenberth found the study provocative and intriguing but built on too many assumptions. This lesson uses their disagreement to explore how scientists evaluate bold claims, models, and evidence.
