About this lesson
A closer look
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an incurable lung disease made worse by air pollution. Researchers at Harvard Chan C-CHANGE discovered that patients with an inflammatory type called eosinophilic COPD are especially sensitive to polluted air. They are now running a randomized controlled trial in Boston to test whether HEPA air purifiers can improve these patients' symptoms and lung function.
